Editorial Review:
Product Description: Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 is more than just the world's most popular and powerful Web design tool: As part of Creative Suite 3 (which includes Photoshop CS3 and Flash CS3), it's a key component of an overall Web design workflow that encourages users to rely on all of their applications to seamlessly create graphically rich content for the Web and motion graphics. This information- and image-packed guide lets users get right down to work by focusing on the Dreamweaver CS3 features they're most likely to use, including Spry framework for Ajax and Spry widgets and effects, and Absolute Placement objects; the book showcases each in a stand-alone tip, complete with a relevant hint or two and helpful screenshot. This is how readers can learn just what they need to know, exploring the program at their own pace, exploring just the features and tools they need.

I teach Web Design and find this book very helpful to both my "ground" and online classes. This book is especially helpful to my online students because I'm not able to lead an in-class demonstration like I do in my ground classes. I recommend students read through chapters that relate to the topics we're covering and I think they find this very useful. The strength of this book is that a student doesn't necessarily need to read through the entire textbook but instead can easily find answers to a specific question by simply finding the topic in the table of contents.
My only suggestion is I'd love to see a companion website that contains video demonstrations. I find my students respond well to audio/visual demonstrations even more than reading through material. And to have both the written material AND a video demonstration would be optimal.
Also, I must say I appreciate the economical pricing of this textbook -- I hate to have a student spend $40-50 on a ... Read More

This is a good book, but I wish that the index was a little easier to find things in. Good book for the beginning web-designer.

I have been building web pages for several years and I found some very interesting tips that I did not even know existed.
Other items were spelled out plainly and clearly, making them easy to follow.
If you find just two items in this book, it is well worth the price.

This book is fantastatic as a quick reference. It gives you answers in short time. For example: if you want to do "this", press "this", "this" and then "this" and it's done. However, it must be stressed that I'd recommend buying another book--one that is more thorough in explaining how to use Dreaweaver to build and manage a web site--in addition to this one--unless you are already proficient in HTML and a previous version of Dreamweaver.

I teach Adobe's DreamWeaver CS3 to high school students. Every now and then, I get a question that I have to "postpone" until I can conduct a little research. The first book I choose from the ig shelf of programming is Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques (How-Tos)!
Kudos to the authors - clear and concise answers to fairly frequent DreamWeaver users' questions.
