Editorial Review:
Product Description: After Abiyoyo the giant left, the small town he had bothered grew by leaps and bounds. The boy who helped his father make Abiyoyo disappear grew older and became a father, too. The people were filled with new life and spirit. But now there are new dangers: droughts and floods. The town needs a dam before it gets washed away. And sitting right where the dam would be is a boulder too big for anyone to move. Anyone, that is, except Abiyoyo.
Father still has his courage. Grandfather still has his magic wand. And his granddaughter knows he can bring Abiyoyo back, then make him disappear. But Abiyoyo is dangerous. People think the giant will eat them. Will lots of good food and beautiful songs keep Abiyoyo happy long enough to move the boulder and once again leave the town in peace?

This is a wonderful continuation to the story Abiyoyo. Abiyoyo is a song with orff accompaniment and story that I've used with 2nd graders. This will be a great enrichment story to go with this lesson. Thank you Pete Seeger.

I have read Abiyoyo to my class for years at Halloween. I especially like to put it in my listining center. I can always tell when they're near the end because they burst into choruses of the song. This year I was able to read the sequel to them and it was a thrill to see their faces while I turned pages. They couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next! I can't wait for a CD version for my listening center.

Both Abiyoyo books are filled with drama and kept my 3.5 year old rapt with attention. Now 5 he tells these stories beautifully (and dramatically), the quality of the bindings and illustrations is great -- great classic!

I've been reading Abiyoyo to preschool children for years. They always love the power that comes from overcoming the giant. But they always ask what happened to Abiyoyo. I usually tell them he went to get a manicure, pedicure and a haircut - and for a trip to the dentist! Now, with Abiyoyo Returns we have a wonderful new story to tell. And the children are quick to notice that the father in the new book is the boy all grown up! They especially like the page where the little girl is washing the giant's stinking feet.

I just got this book in addition to the original Abiyoyo and wasn't sure about it at first. The new story and graphics are just as good as the first. Another great addition to any book collection.
