Excellent book. Very clear and deep explination of everything about the .NET framework as well as the language. Its big and thick, and some topics are familiar to people that have programmed in other languages (especially Java) but just skim through those sections and its fine.

I read most of the Visual C Sharp Step by Step book from Microsoft before I picked this up (John Sharp was the author). After reading about 60% of the book, I put it down because I realized that I wasn't learning anything. There were too many useless examples throughout the book. To make things worse, I think the book was written by a robot for robots.
The "Pro C# with .Net 3.0" book was the exact opposite of this. The book was engaging. It spoke of the concepts rather than teaching you through coding mostly built widgets like the first book did.
Two chapters in to the book, I already knew concepts that the other book didn't even cover 60% through. Although I am not a pro yet, this book is helping me finally understand the concept of coding with C#.

Andrew, once again, has done a fantastic job with this book on C#. His workshops at Intertech ([...]) are rock solid. He also has a blog at [...].

I was given this book by a friend when I was leaving a Java shop where I was a junior developer to go to a .NET shop.
This book did a great job of helping me navigate syntactic differences between Java and C#, and even helped me become a better developer overall.
Great book for beginners.

Pro - This book covers a lot of ground. The writing is clear and the explanation is good. This is definitely one of THE C# books to read.
Con - Considering this is a book for professionals by professionals, I think some of the materials here may be too elementary for experienced software professionals. I also agree with other readers here that it does not cover enough of the 3.0+ material here. But I would imagine if it did, the book would be "super-huge".
Verdict - Overall, it's worth reading but you also have to be very motivated (reading 1000+ pages book is not always that easy). I recommend you to skim through most of part 1 and 2 of the book if you are already familiar with the topics (or reference to them later) and choose the part(s) of the book that interests you. Then read other additional books to catch up more specific .Net 3.5 related topics like WPF, WCF, LINQ, etc.
