Dennis Christoper travels west to find himself after his brother dies just after cutting his first jazz/blues record.He ends up in a surf 60's world that might as well be the moon...as he is really out of place and feels lost and totally alone. Enter a over-the-hill bar owner who still carries a torch for his ex-wife,he takes the boy in over the protests of his daughter.This begins a relearning period of mistakes and absolute blunders until he finally gets the girl and looses the father figure to an unexpected heart attack without being able to say he was sorry for doubting his success in the Olympics. The film is twisted with good and bad surfers,poor little rich girls and pott heads along with beach vollyball at it's roots.
