Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Cook a turkey just as fast as oil frying without the messy clean up. Turkey comes out juicy, crisp, tender and full of flavor.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Like taking your oven to the back yard.
We apprehensivley purchased one of these things for Thanksgiving this year because we love fried Turkey but hate the clean-up. Frying with oil, while dangerous if your not intelligent enough to pay attention to what you're doing, tastes sooo good and cooks MUCH faster than a conventional oven. The "BIG EASY" is JUST that. Its easy. Thats the only good thing I have to say about the product. It's no faster than a conventional oven, and while you can collect the drippings to make gravy, that just proves it doesn't "seal in the juices". It took almost two frickin hours to cook one small chicken. Almost everything about the way this product is marketed is a lie. It's nothing more than a roaster. There is still no comparison between what this product does and what a REAL fryer does. To all you hardcore fryers out there, I'm sorry I strayed and it won't happen again. For all you out there that want to try frying a turkey but are too scared, You're not doing yourself justice buying this product ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - simple. Neat. Delicious.
Amazing! I Picked up one of these on a whim on a sunday afternoon 11/9/2008. Brought it home, assembled it (took about an hour), and read the recipe book.

Next morning, I went out and bought a new propane tank, had it filled, and bought a fresh turkey (14.59 lbs). I opened and washed the bird, dried it, brushed it with olive oil, sprinkled with some cracked pepper and some poultry seasoning, put it in the cage, inserted the thermometer, and had it going at 1:00pm on monday afternoon.

At 3:00 pm the thermometer read 170 degrees F, so I removed the bird, let it rest for about 10 minutes, and sliced off a couple of pieces.

This bird was moist, with a crispy skin, and done to perfection, without the cost and mess of deep frying.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I hate liars
It's a small cylindrical propane-fired oven. Not a fryer. Frying by definition uses oil. This doesn't use oil so it is NOT a fryer. They can call it a baker or a cooker or an oven or pretty much anything except a fryer, which it is not. I rate it a ZERO because they're liars. It is entirely different than a deep-fried turkey. I've been doing those for 20 years. They're great. Just don't try it with a frozen turkey or burn your garage down. Note that their non-fryer will only do a turkey or whole bird. Can't do french fries, fried chicken, onion rings, fish, or any of the other delicious cholesterol-laden and possibly-fatal-but-delicious things you can do with a turkey fryer. I'll bet these things are illegal in Texas or Louisiana unless you have a special sissy-boy certificate.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good product, but beware of "Bill Me Later" promos at Amazon
The Char-Broil The Big Easy, works fine. I cooked two chickens in it and they came out great.
My complaint is not with the product but the fact that the offered $20 discount for using "Bill Me Later" never was applied because of a "registration glitch" calls to the Amazon customer service line got fingers pointer at CitiBack (owner of Bill Me Later) we met with cool response and finger pointing at Amazon and anyone else but Citi. So the problem was never resolved and I never received the promotional $20 discount. Amazon really needs to think twice about outsourcing their customer service. Also Amazon's shipping takes at least two days longer than enyone else to ship a product.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - better than expected
I got the big easy for an upcoming birthday party , i needed oven space and also did not want to boil a ton of oil outside , so i thought i would try the big easy .
I decided to have a trial run , i had an old turkey in the freezer , it was past its best so even if i messed up the cooking it would not matter , i seaoned the bird inside and out , rubbed melted butter on the out side and injected a spice mixture as i would with a traditional fryer .
Getting the bird into the basket was tight , too tight , so i checked the recommended size , up to 16 lbs it said , i then realised i did not look at the label on the bird , 24 lbs , oops , anyway the bird did go into the fryer and i thought it would bound to be not cooked but so what , it was my mistake , two and a half hours later the thermometer read 168 , i took it out , it looked fantastic , i let it rest under foil for about 25 minutes and then carved it .
I have to tell you i am retired restaurant owner and have cooked hundreds ... Read More
