Got this to keep our very energized dog in our yard. Considering the price of the other products out there this was a real bargain. Also while I considered the wireless containment systems, I didn't like how you can't clearly define the boundaries and you're left with just a spherical area. So, this system works very well in that regard. Therein lies the problem- laying the boundary wires in our 10,000 sq ft property was backbreaking labor! It took me 2 days, a lot of cussing, to get it up and running!
Having said that, once the work's done, it works as advertised. After a few zaps our dog learnt her boundaries pretty darn quick. There is an audible alarm that sounds if you cut the cable by accident (snowthrower problem). Not a big deal- set also includes connectors for the wires. The set comes with 2 collars (hence 2 proprietary batteries). Each lasted my dog about a month or slightly more. I bought thee HC-8000 and with just a little help from you, your pet will stay in the boundrys that you have set up with the flags. It keeps the pet out of the garden, road, drive way and any place else you would like to keep your pet out of.
The only problem that I had was when we first got it, the dog would chase the squrial and by running very fast, by the time the colar would sound off, she was on the other side and then could not get back in the back door. In this case she would come to the front door and bark to get back in.
If you care for you pet, it is a great investment that does not hurt your pet.
